Carpe Diem

Watched 18 Regalia in Netflix. Based on true story, a pregnant dying mother planned for 18 birthday gift for the daughter as she wont be seeing her growing up.

Seeing her at her labor day in OT, the scene brought me back to the moment i was at OT waiting to be c-sec for Zaeem. It was noon 2014 and the 1 hour waiting time gave me an eerie feeling.

Fear. Scared bcos I wasn't in control. I had flashes in my mind of all the big moments of my life. It was just like the movies. The worst part, the feeling I had was regret. Not doing enough, living enough. Not a good mother, not a good wife. Ya Allah.. It's like a big slap on my face. As cliche as it sounds, life is indeed too short. I am going to die.

I didn't talk it out to anyone. Until this morning after Sahur to hubby. And as I explained to him,  I had teary eyes unexpectedly. I am still feeling it like it was recent. I hugged him in the kitchen.

Yes, life is short. It was a good reminder.

As what I learned from Dead Poet Society, what you need is to live at present and seize the day. Carpe diem

Beautiful quotes from Dead Poet Society which sparks my inspiration

Carpe diem. Seize the day, boys. Make your lives extraordinary.

You must strive to find your own voice because the longer you wait to begin, the less likely you are going to find it at all.

Thank you for playing Mr. Dalton. I stand upon my desk to remind myself that we must constantly look at things in a different way.

No matter what anybody tells you, words and ideas can change the world.

We don't read and write poetry because it's cute. We read and write poetry because we are members of the human race. And the human race is filled with passion. And medicine, law, business, engineering, these are noble pursuits and necessary to sustain life. But poetry, beauty, romance, love, these are what we stay alive for. To quote from Whitman, "O me! O life!... of the questions of these recurring; of the endless trains of the faithless... of cities filled with the foolish; what good amid these, O me, O life?" Answer. That you are here - that life exists, and identity; that the powerful play goes on and you may contribute a verse. That the powerful play *goes on* and you may contribute a verse. What will your verse be?
